What is 4S

4S is short for 4Surgery. 4S is a free email service that gives you a monthly summary of the latest published abstracts of original articles, reviews and trials in the four leading surgical journals, JAMA Surgery, British Journal of Surgery, Annals of Surgery and Surgery. J.M. van Rees is Editor in Chief of 4S. He is currently finishing his medical study and is doing research at the Surgical Oncology Department at the Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam. His main research subjects are colorectal and pelvic cancer.

M.J.A.M. Bakens MD, PhD
M.J.A.M. Bakens is editor of 4S. He works as a resident (in training) at the department of surgery at Maastricht University Medical Center, Maastricht. He finished his PhD in 2019 titled 'Variation in pancreatic cancer care in The Netherlands'.
